Mark McGowan explains how it will work when the AFL teams return to/visit Western Australia;

• Our two WA teams will return from Queensland and be required to self-quarantine for 14 days, under strict rules, that will allow them to train and only play against each other during this 14-day period.
• The interstate AFL teams that come to WA will be sent directly to a quarantine hub.
• The interstate AFL teams will be forced to spend 14 days in the quarantine hub, under strict protocols where they will have no contact with the general public.
• During those 14 days in the quarantine hub, interstate teams will only be allowed to play other interstate teams – no exemptions will be allowed.
• There will be strict protocols and regular testing systems in place for the teams, based on expert health advice.
• It’s also important to note that the AFL will continue to conduct regular testing of players to minimise any risk of potential infection.
• These arrangements are approved by WA’s Chief Health Officer and Police Commissioner. They have not changed.
• These measures will be strictly monitored and enforced by WA Police. No changes have been made to WA’s hard border controls.

Phase 4 Announcement

Following the Premier’s announcement to further ease restrictions we are now opening Optus Stadium in line with Phase 4 of the road map.

From Saturday 27 June:

• all existing gathering limits and the 100/300 rule removed
• gathering limits only determined by WA’s reduced 2sqm rule
• no requirement to maintain patron register at food businesses and licensed premises
• alcohol can be served as part of unseated service arrangements
• all events permitted except for large scale, multi-stage music festivals
• unseated performances permitted at venues such as concert halls, live music venues, bars, pubs and nightclubs

For Optus Stadium, a 50 per cent capacity rule will apply.

Increased capacity at the City View Café from Saturday

Following the Australian Governments advice, the City View Café will be able to accommodate 100 dine-in guests from Saturday, 6 June.

Walk-ins are welcome, however bookings are also available online.

The City View Café reopens on Monday

Coffee with a view is back. Following the Australian Governments advice, the City View Café is re-opening on Monday 18 May. Our friendly staff and chefs are welcoming you back with dining availability for up to 20 people and a delicious take-away menu.

• All working staff have completed the AHA Hospitality & Tourism COVID-19 Hygiene Course

• The café is now cashless, with tap and go the only way to go

Ticketmaster Refund Process

Ticketmaster are contacting all ticket holders and processing refunds on a round by round basis. Therefore ticket holders will have their refunds processed on the week the match was originally scheduled. 

Ticketmaster are sending the refund back to the original credit card you used to purchase the tickets. Please note that whilst refunds have commenced, it can take some time for your bank to process. The time may vary, depending on your bank.

Please note, only the original credit card holder will receive a refund via the methods outlined above. If you received your ticket(s) any other way, including via “Ticket Forward”, you will need to contact the original credit card holder for your refund.

Based on the most recent advice from the Australian Government, Optus Stadium is closed for the foreseeable future including the City View Café.

AFL at Optus Stadium

Yesterday, the AFL announced the suspension of the 2020 AFL Premiership Season.

The AFL season will go into a temporary halt with the suspension of all games until May 31, 2020. The AFL will review the situation by the end of April to determine whether a further suspension period will be required.

Ticketmaster are in the process of refunding ticket holders, thank you for your patience.

All guided Stadium tours have been temporarily suspended until further notice.

The health and safety of our employees and patrons is our number one priority therefore we have temporarily suspended all Optus Stadium tours.

Coronavirus and footy: The state of play

Optus Stadium continues to closely follow the Federal and State Governments’ management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’re supporting the AFL and our WA clubs in their decision making in response to this and we take our responsibility for the health and well-being of our fans, clients and employees seriously.

After the Government’s banning of gatherings of more than 500 people, the AFL chief Gillon McLachlan has announced unprecedented changes to the fixture for the 2020 season.

Non-essential gatherings update

The Western Australian Government has accepted the advice from Federal and State health authorities against organised, non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people taking place from Monday March 16.

The AFL has confirmed that the West Coast Eagles v Melbourne game on March 22 will be played in an empty Stadium. This will be the case for all scheduled matches until further notice.

Therefore, we advise all patrons with tickets not to attend Optus Stadium.
